King Estate Signature Collection 2008 Pinot Noir

This week’s selection:
Winery : King Estate (Signature Collection)
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Price Paid: $23.99 (Normally $29.99)
Vintage: 2008
Area: Oregon
Alcohol: 13%
Purchased: Meijer (Seen at COSTCO in the past as well.)

Overall: This was my first 2008 Oregon Pinot and we have been hearing that if you couldn’t make good Pinot in Oregon in “08” you shouldn’t be making it period. This wine was delicious and a cherry bomb with cranberry and cola. Classic new world ripe pinot. Excellent wine to hold up to that Thanksgiving stuffing, gravy,... And, if you are going to someone else’s house, a nice gift and you can feel like you are splurging but not breaking the bank.

Reviews
"Medium ruby color, spicy, ripe cherry aromas; nice, bright red cherry flavors with spicy notes; silky texture; good structure and balance; long finish. Bright and spicy, this is a great all-purpose Pinot for the table."

"Just released, young and tight, this widely available (25,000 case) Oregon Pinot shows the strengths of the 2008 vintage. The cranberry and raspberry fruit has plenty of supporting acidity, while the barrel regimen—a mix of new, one-, two- and three-year-old French oak—brings in cedar, smoke and caramel highlights. "
